TRAINING SESSIONS
Boxing sessions for adults at the YMCA Wimbledon, SW19.
Sessions are structured, inclusive, and run with clear standards of behaviour. Coaching is structured around the following principles:
- Small groups for focused coaching
- Structured sessions with clear purpose
- Fundamentals before intensity
- Consistent standards of behaviour
- Safe and appropriate progression
Beginners are welcome! Start with a Boxing Fundamentals session which forms the foundation for all other boxing training.
Please bring hand wraps, comfortable training clothes, indoor trainers, gym towel, and a water bottle to your training session.

FUNDAMENTALS
Start with a Boxing Fundamentals session if you're new to boxing!
Boxing Fundamentals sessions focus on the core building blocks of boxing technique.
Key areas covered include:
- Stance and balance
- Guard and posture
- Footwork and movement
- Basic attack and defence
- Coordination and timing
This class forms the foundation for all other boxing training.


BOXING FITNESS
Join a Boxing Fitness session to get boxing fit
Boxing Fitness sessions are intensity and conditioning focused, while still grounded in correct boxing movement.
Sessions will include:
- Dynamic warm‑ups
- Shadow boxing
- Skipping
- Strength and conditioning exercises
- Circuits and intervals
The emphasis is on cardiovascular fitness, strength, and endurance, using boxing as the training medium.
BOXING SKILLS
Join a Boxing Skills session to build and improve your understanding
Boxing Skills sessions are the most technically demanding sessions in the timetable. They focus on more complex and challenging drills.
Sessions may include:
- Advanced technical drills
- Partner work
- Technical and tactical exercises
- Controlled problem‑solving scenarios
- Decision‑making under pressure
These sessions are coached and controlled, with a strong emphasis on learning, and technical quality.
