Do I need any boxing experience?
No. Beginners are welcome. If you’re new to boxing or returning after time away, Boxing Fundamentals is the best place to start.

WHICH SESSION IS RIGHT FOR ME?
If you’re unsure where to start, Boxing Fundamentals provides the best foundation and is a useful reference point for all other sessions.
Boxing Fitness and Boxing Skills sessions are best added once you’re comfortable with the basics, but there’s no fixed pathway and no pressure to move on quickly.
Women’s Boxing sessions are women-only and combine the same coaching principles as the rest of the programme.
Youth sessions are for ages 11+ to 17 years old. Sessions are age‑appropriate, structured, and focused on developing fundamentals, fitness, and skills.

What should I bring to training?
Please bring hand wraps, comfortable training clothes, indoor trainers, gym towel, and a water bottle to your training session. Spare gloves are available but please consider investing in your own boxing equipment.

ARE SESSIONS MIXED ABILITY?
Sessions are coached to accommodate a range of abilities, with an emphasis on fundamentals and safe progression. You don’t need to keep up with anyone else — the focus is on learning and improving over time.

HOW DO BOOKINGS WORK?
Our session bookings and passes are powered by Gymcatch. Select a pass to get credits for your sessions. Book in to your session using a credit from your pass.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
A 24 hour cancellation policy applies to all sessions. Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the session retain the session credit. Late cancellations and no‑shows consume the session.

WHERE DO SESSIONS TAKE PLACE?
Sessions are delivered in the Studio at the all new YMCA Wimbledon, 196-198 The Broadway, Wimbledon, SW19 1RY. YMCA Wimbledon is centrally located and easily accessible on foot, by public transport, by bike, or by car. Car parking and street parking are available nearby subject to local restrictions.
YMCA Wimbledon has facilities including changing rooms, showers, lockers (please bring a padlock if required). Facilities are shared with other YMCA users.
Please arrive 5–10 minutes early for your session to allow time for check‑in.

ARE BOXING SESSIONS SAFE?
Yes. All sessions are coached by a qualified England Boxing coach with valid first aid, safeguarding and DBS certification.

ARE SESSONS COMPETITIVE?
No. It's just You vs. You! The coaching approach is fundamentals-first. Boxing is taught as a skill, not just a workout. Sessions are structured to help people understand boxing, build confidence, and develop skills over time. Progress is built through regular attendance and attention to detail.
